She was determined to attract the interest of politicians and encourage them to act to reduce the effects of global warming. Swedish media caught Thunbergs strike and news about her strike went out. Many students across the globe took part in her #FridaysforFuture strike, skipping the school day on Friday to protest against the effects of climate change. The world's climate campaigners came together in the year 2019 to organize the Global Strike for Climate. The event was an enormous success; over 1.6 million people across more than 125 nations took part.
